Learn Quran With Tajweed: Apply the Rules While You Read
Learn Quran with Tajweed at Daad Academy in live one-to-one lessons where you study each rule and then apply it while you read real surahs. Lessons are taught in Arabic and English by native Arabic-speaking teachers who graduated from Al-Azhar University. This page explains what tajweed is, how the lessons work, who the course suits, and where it fits on the path of Quran learning.
What Is Tajweed?
Tajweed is the set of rules for pronouncing the Quran correctly. It covers topics such as where each letter comes from (makharij), the qualities of letters, the rules of noon sakinah and tanween, the rules of meem sakinah, the lengthening of sounds (madd), and where to stop and start. Knowing a rule is one thing, and hearing it in your own voice is another, which is why practice with a teacher matters.
Why Learn Tajweed Through the Quran Itself?
A rule written on a page can feel abstract. The same rule inside a verse you are reading becomes clear. That is why this course works on real passages, not only on lists of rules. You meet each rule in the Quran, say it aloud, and then read a longer passage with it, so the rule becomes part of how you recite.
Learn, Spot, Say, Apply: How the Lessons Work
Each rule follows a simple loop:
- Learn the rule in simple words, with clear examples.
- Spot it in real verses of the Quran.
- Say the example aloud while the teacher listens, then correct and repeat.
- Apply it across a longer passage, and review it in later lessons.
The loop is repeated for each rule, so your recitation improves one step at a time.

Which Tajweed Course Fits You?
Some learners prefer a course made for their own situation. Parents can see the online Tajweed course for kids, adults can see Tajweed classes for adults, and sisters can see online Tajweed classes for sisters. This page is for learners who read steadily and want to apply tajweed directly to Quran reading.
How a One-to-One Tajweed Lesson Works
In a private lesson, you recite and the teacher listens. A first lesson often includes a short recitation check, so the teacher can hear which sounds need attention. After that, a typical lesson may revise the last rule, introduce a new one with examples from the Quran, and read a passage together so that you can hear the rule at work. Explanations are given in English or Arabic, depending on what helps you most.
How to Practise Between Lessons
- Recite a short passage each day and listen for the rule you studied.
- Record yourself and compare it with your teacher’s corrections.
- Keep a notebook with each rule and one example from the Quran.
- Review the previous rule before you start a new one.
Be Patient With the Rules
Tajweed has many rules, and nobody learns them all at once. Some feel natural at once, while others need repeated practice before they sound right. That is normal. A steady pace, with regular review, builds recitation that stays correct, and a patient learner usually does better than a rushed one. The Quran itself speaks of following its recitation with care, as in Surah Al-Qiyamah (75:18).
After Tajweed: Memorisation
Correct recitation is a strong base for memorisation. When you are ready to begin, our online Hifz program explains the Hifz courses and helps you choose the one that fits you. Many learners study tajweed alongside Hifz, so both support each other.
